May 6, 2023 - General Election Important Information

The next General Election will be on Saturday, May 6, 2023, for the purpose of electing two City Council Members, Places 2 and 3, each for a three-year term. The incumbents are eligible to run for re-election should they choose to do so. The incumbents include Council Member John Brandt (Place 2) and Council Member Scott Kelley (Place 3). 

 

The first day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot, for Council Member, Places 2 and 3, in the May 6, 2023 General Election is January 18, 2023. The deadline to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot is February 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.  Candidate Packets with additional information will be available the first week of January 2023. 


City Council Elections 

Members of the City Council are elected for three-year terms on a nonpartisan basis. The Council is made up of seven members: a Mayor and six Council members. The Mayor is elected by the entire city. All six Council Members are also elected by the entire city. Once elected, Council members choose the Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem from among the elected members.
