QUESTION: What do I do if online incident reporting is not right for me? | ANSWER: If your incident is an emergency, call 911. If non-emergency call (972) 771-7724. |
QUESTION: What if this happened in another city? Can I file a report using this citizens online police reporting system? | ANSWER: No. If a crime took place outside the City of Fate, please call the police department for that jurisdiction. |
QUESTION: What is physical evidence? | ANSWER: Physical evidence would include anything that was left behind by the suspect(s) who committed the crime. In addition, it would be a CLEAN, DRY, SMOOTH surface that the suspect(s) are believed to have touched. |
QUESTION: What is a known suspect? | ANSWER: A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the identity of the suspect(s) or where to find the suspect(s) who committed the crime. This would include the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect(s) were in. |
QUESTION: How is my online report reviewed? | ANSWER: Fate DPS Criminal Investigations Division will review your report and email you with a case number within five (5) business days. A detective may contact you if further investigation is needed. |
QUESTION: What if I have evidence, such as recordings, photo, documents, etc.? | ANSWER: If you have physical evidence or surveillance video that could lead to suspect identification, please have an officer contact you by calling non-emergency dispatch at 972-771-7724. |
