Responsibilities & Services

The employees of the Public Works Department provide a vital public service through planning, engineering, constructing, inspecting, operating, and maintaining Fate's public infrastructure. All of the city streets, signs, water/wastewater utilities, city-wide distribution system, and the storm drainage systems are maintained by 10 public works employees. The department strives to ensure high quality residential and commercial development, invest time to provide and maintain high quality public assets, promote ease of mobility throughout the city, and provide a high degree of customer service and satisfaction.

Where Our Water Come​s From

The City of Fate purchases water from the North Texas Municipal Water District located in Wylie, Texas. With two large capacity supply lines passing through the city, sufficient water for the foreseeable future is assured.

About Our Water Supply

The City of Fate supplies water to approximately 5,343 households and businesses. The City has generator backup power supplies to ensure that water and wastewater services will have power available even through extended power outages. Two water towers with a capacity of 1.5-million-gallon total. Located on north and south sides of interstate 30.

Wastewater Infrastructure

The city of Fate collects wastewater and transports it to Sabine Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant located in Royse City and operated by North Texas Municipal Water District.

50/50 Sidewalk Program

The 50/50 Sidewalk Program provides owners of residential property with an opportunity to replace defective sidewalks in front of their parcels for half of the total cost.  Sidewalks that qualify typically are rated fair to poor.  Sidewalks in good condition will not qualify for the Program.For more information, click here.
