Public Works

Our Mission
We strive to maintain, improve, and preserve Fate’s infrastructure and environment for the residents, businesses, visitors, and future generations of everyone in our city.

Responsibilities & Services
The employees of the Public Works Department work together to provide a high-quality infrastructure through planning, engineering, construction, inspection, and operations. Public works employees maintain all the city streets, signs, water/wastewater, utilities, city-wide distribution systems, and storm drainage systems. The department strives to ensure quality residential and commercial development and public assets; while providing quality, efficient and excellent customer service.

Where Our Water Comes From
The City of Fate purchases treated water from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) located in Wylie, Texas.  This division’s responsibility is to manage and operate the distribution system that brings water to the residents and businesses of Fate.

About Our Water Supply
The City of Fate supplies water to approximately 7,505 households and businesses. The city has backup power supplies to ensure that water and wastewater services will have power available even through extended power outages. Two water towers with a capacity of 1.5-million-gallons total. They are located on the north and south sides of Interstate 30.

Wastewater Infrastructure
The city of Fate collects wastewater and transports it to Sabine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Royse City and operated by North Texas Municipal Water District.

50/50 Sidewalk Program
Property owners are required to maintain their sidewalks, including costs. The City of Fate offers owners a cost-sharing option thru the 50/50 Sidewalk Program. This program allows residential property owners to replace defective sidewalks for half the total cost.  Sidewalks that qualify typically are rated fair to poor; sidewalks in good condition will not qualify for the Program. For more information, click here. To apply, fill out this 50/50 Sidewalk Form  and submit it.
