The Finance Department is committed to providing timely, accurate, clear, and complete information to support other City departments, citizens, and the community. Additionally, the department protects CIty assets, both real and intangible, as well as ensuring the City's compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations and conform to Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), and Public Funds Investment Act (PFIA) of Texas.
The Finance Department is responsible for the management and direction of:
- Debt Management
- Utility Billing
- Municipal Court
For the last nine years, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the city of Fate with a Distinguished Budget Award for preparing high-quality budget documents that meet program criteria and striving to improve budget transparency in the community. Additionally, for the past eight years, the City has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
The city of Fate has also been awarded the Certificate of Distinction from the Government Treasurers’ Organization of Texas (GTOT) for maintaining a comprehensive written investment policy that fully complies with the Texas Public Funds Investment Act (PFIA). This is the second consecutive award the City has received from GTOT.
